Paint and Decorate a holiday postcard for friends and family Workshop

Thursday 30th July from 11.00 to 1.00pm

As part of their exhibition at Sprout Arts, Sophie and John will be holding a drop-in workshop on Thursday 30th July from 11.00 to 1.00pm ‘Paint and Decorate a holiday postcard for friends and family'.

Suitable for all ages but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Come along and join in!

Sophia Hughes' landscapes employ acrylic and mixed media to recreate remembered atmosphere of places recently visited. The semi-abstarct style helps to distill and objectify the otherwise very personal memory of these specific places.

Sophia Hughes lives in Brixton. She attended Chelsea School of Art and has exhibited in various shows in London both mixed and alone. Her most recent was at Sprout in 2013.

John Workman’s lightbox landscapes are more about time than space. You can peer through them into a succession of past periods, recent and remote.

John Workman was born in Bedford in 1950 and studied English at St Catherine's College, Oxford. Since graduating  in 1972 he has worked as a teacher and painter, mainly in London. He exhibits regularly, this year at The Basement in Leeds, Muxima in Bow, and JP Art Gallery in Clapham. Those looking for more information and images of recent work will not find them on his website johnworkman.co.uk
