This exhibition celebrates the landscape genre. From the wild corners of our coast to the open landscapes of central London, these paintings have been inspired by the country we live in.

Also on display are examples of Katharine’s flower series. She aims to capture the character of each flower. The challenge is to recreate something so delicate in the robust medium of oil paint.

'Having spent a decade working in advertising, I felt increasingly claustrophobic working in an office when I longed to be outside

battling the elements with a paintbrush. The past 7 years have been dedicated to just that.

Colour is a priority in my painting and the texture and versatility of oils make it the most exciting medium to work in. In my landscape paintings I look back to the expressionist work of Derain and Matisse. Also of particular reference are Whistler’s ‘nocturne’ paintings.

I also love to create still life paintings. In my flower series, I aim to capture the character of each flower. The challenge is to recreate something so delicate in the robust medium of oil paint.'
