Sprout Arts FREE drawing & painting, photography, writing & poetry workshops led by Lucinda DenningGary Heiss and other local artists. Each workshop also includes a bowls taster sessions held at the Streatham Park Bowls ClubRefreshments will also be provided.

We're holding a special one-off creative writing workshop to help get ideas and words flowing. All very welcome to what promises to be a fun and informal group session.

Drawing and Painting with Lucinda Denning: Charcoal

Saturday 1st August

10am – 1pm

A chance to explore the environment using charcoal to represent the scene. Using a range of thicknesses and densities of charcoal- ordinary willow sticks, compressed charcoal, charcoal pencils and erasers. 

You will really get to grips with the medium of charcoal, its capabilities and range of mark making that can be made. The drawings will be made sitting scattered around the bowling club site using paper on a drawing board to depict the foliage, figures and buildings.

Understand the basics of framing, composition and how to create professional looking photographs in a relaxed non technical environment. A creative eye and imagination are all that's needed.

All levels of ability welcome and a camera phone is the minimum requirement. Mentored throughout by professional photographer Gary Heiss, all aspects of technique and composition will be taught as a group and individual tuition will be available as required.

The sessions will explore the social, documentary and interpretative nature of making photographs.

Drawing and Painting with Lucinda Denning : Pencil

Sunday 16th August

10am – 1pm

Pencil: Drawing the Bowling Green with Figures/ Drawing the Trees and Foliage/ Drawing the Buildings. The pencils used will vary from hard HB pencils to soft 7B pencils.

The basic techniques of drawing will be explained and then you will be encouraged to find a spot to sit and focus on the scene ahead and create a detailed and engaging drawing.

 

Drawing and Painting with Lucinda Denning: Colour (using watercolours or pastels)

Saturday 22nd August

10am – 1pm

A chance to experiment with colour, perhaps by focussing on the variety of greens within the foliage or the subtle changes in the walls of the bowling pavilion. The emphasis will be on trying to capture the actual colours the students see in front of them and  its range of hues and tones. 

 

Poetry workshop 

Saturday 22nd August

10am - 1pm 

Do you have a favourite poem? Bring it along to share and discuss poetry with like-minded local people or just listen and enjoy.

 

Workshops suitable for ages 14-100

Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult

 

Each workshop includes a bowls taster session. Participants should wear flat shoes for the bowls session.

Maximum 10 people per workshop.

 

We will be including selected work in an exhibition at Sprout Arts. Participants can request to exhibit anonymously.
