Moving Figures: Collaborative sculpture workshop continues from 2:15pm sharp until 4:30pm

A suggested donation of £2.00 in support of Sprout Arts is welcomed.

Individuals, families and other groups may drop-in to any session. This is a great opportunity for people from all walks of life to enjoy a group process of creation and self-expression. Work made may be selected by the curator to become part of the Move collection. Some workshop participants may also be invited to enter an aspiring artist's programme as a solo artist, which offers potential to be part of future exhibits.

Sophie will guide participants in a supportive and collaborative way to create a group piece inspired by performance and movement themes such as music, dance and theatre, reflecting the diversity of the local area. She has run a number of Move art workshops in the past, hosted by south west London charities, and is often particularly delighted by the talent of the very youngest. All sessions are free, with a suggested donation to Sprout Arts gratefully received. There is a limit of 20 participants per session and all young and vulnerable people must be supervised by a responsible adult or guardian at all times. Please bring something to protect hands and clothes.

See Move art: Paintings, drawings, prints and collage by other Move artists of varying ages and experience will also be exhibited, and all art shown will be available to purchase.

New work for the Move collection is made on an ongoing basis by all ages at collaborative workshops run by professional artists. Work by lead workshop artists is also included, as is work by aspiring solo artists who join a programme to receive guidance from the curator and professional artists in tailored workshops and studio visits as they continue to reflect on themes of movement and performance. Aspiring artists in the programme, and parents, will be invited to a talk by Sophie as a sneak preview of her work ahead of the exhibition opening.

Move is an independently curated celebration of art by aspiring and professional artists from ages 4 to 83, in collaboration with Wandsworth charities, schools, local business and residents. In the making of the Move collection, hundreds have enjoyed many hours in workshops with established artists who they otherwise wouldn’t have worked alongside, therefore gaining new influences and networks. A large amount of time and effort is involved in creating Move workshops, exhibitions and other art events. Please show your support, and encourage Move artists of all ages, by buying original art and prints.
